Hamilton County Historical
Alliance met at Randall City Hall on Saturday, July 22, 2017. The meeting
was called to order at 10:00 am. There were 10 in attendance, including
new members from Webster City and Blairsburg.
Roll call theme was ‘Tell about one business that
used to be in your community that no longer exists and would be interesting
to know about.’ Several interesting stories were shared.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved
with a motion by Marlin, and a second by Bob.
The possibility of having a motto was discussed. The
idea was tabled until an undetermined time.
Discussions and Information Sharing:
* Linda said there is someone from Homer who
might want to join the group. We still need a member from Williams
and Kamrar.
* Alan Spohnheimer reported on the Plat books
online. Janet has hard copies of Plat books in the Ellsworth Museum.
* Alan passed around Jewell’s binder of drafts/plans,
and also read a letter to the Des Moines Register editor, regarding small
town museums. He showed some brochures and encouraged members of each town
to come up with a draft of a brochure for their town museum, and share
at an upcoming meeting. Funding options for the brochures.
* Janet shared information about the Facebook
page, “What Do You Remember Living in Ellsworth Iowa Area?”, and also about
the REO car owned by Nick and Fritz Pehrson.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:13am.
Next Meeting: Saturday, October 14, 2017 @ 10:00 AM,
in Stanhope.
