Mid-1880s - What to do with the Old Ellsworth Depot



OUR DEPOT WAS REMOVED FROM THE TRACK AREA, AND TEMPORARILY STORED.

The Callanan/Ellsworth Depot was relocated from the railroad tracks to city land in about 1985.  This was more than 100 years after it was first constructed in the early settlement known as Callanan.  Learn more by also viewing the next three pages.

A chainsaw cut hole through the wall and floor made room to allow the depot to be moved by a trailer.   The truck's very long trailer was driven into the hole when it was ready to be moved.

Two small rectangular holes (one is seen here to the left of the large door) in the front and back walls of the depot allowed a steel I-beam to go through.  This I-beam would be supported by the long trailer.
